題名は中央自動車道に由来する。フリーウェイとは高速道路のこと。中央道を調布から八王子方面へ向かう際に見える在日米軍の調布基地（1974年に全面返還）、サントリー武蔵野ビール工場や東京競馬場と、東京都府中市近辺の風景が歌われる。2023年12月発売のコラボレーション・ベストアルバム『ユーミン乾杯!!』にて、「YOASOBI cheers 松任谷由実」名義で新たに歌詞を追加したアレンジバージョンが収録された。(フリー百科事典 ウィキペディア日本語版より：https://x.gd/C59zt)

The title comes from the Chuo Expressway. A freeway is an expressway. The song depicts the Chofu base of the U.S. military stationed in Japan (completely returned in 1974), the Suntory Musashino Beer Factory, the Tokyo Racecourse, and the scenery around Fuchu City, Tokyo, which can be seen as you drive along the Chuo Expressway from Chofu to Hachioji. An arranged version with new lyrics added under the name of “YOASOBI cheerers Yumi Matsutoya” was included in the collaboration best album “Yumin Kanpai!!” to be released in December 2023.
