北海道の日本海沿岸の民謡。発祥地は後志の積丹半島から余市郡にかけての地域。ニシン漁の歌として有名である。ニシン漁の際に唄われた「鰊場作業唄」の一節、「沖揚げ音頭」が分化し、独自に変化したものである。「ソーラン ソーラン」の囃し言葉にちなんで「ソーラン節」と呼ばれるようになった。(フリー百科事典 ウィキペディア日本語版より：https://x.gd/JC6am)

It is a branch of the Okiage Ondo,'' a part of theHerring Work Song,'' which was sung during herring fishing, and has undergone unique changes.
