It is popular as a standard song for Bon dances, and is also known as the cheering song for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows and FC Tokyo. It was originally created in 1932 (Showa 7) under the title ``Marunouchi Ondo'' and was performed at the Bon Odori festival at Hibiya Park. Since Hibiya Park celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2003, the Hibiya Park Marunouchi Ondo Obon Odori Festival has been held every August.
