The song first appeared in the “Junior High School Songs” published in 1901 (Meiji 34). It is currently used as the departure melody for the Hakone Tozan Railway (Odawara Station, Hakone-Yumoto Station, Gora Station) and the Hakone Tozan Cable Car (Gora Station, Sounzan Station), as well as the in-car chime for the Hakone Tozan Cable Car (when departing and arriving at Gora Station and Sounzan Station). It was selected as one of the “100 Best Japanese Songs” (2000), chosen by Kameda Seika as part of a cultural project commemorating the 40th anniversary of its founding.
