In 2001, Mitsuru Arai translated this poem, which is said to have originated in the United States, into Japanese and composed it himself. The title Become a ”Thousand Winds” was borrowed from the third line of the original poem, ”I am a thousand winds that blow.” The lyrics of this song have autumn, winter, morning, and night, but not spring, summer, and day, because these words were used to rhyme in the original poem.
